The FREE Center welcomes individuals, families or groups for guided or self-guided tours. Open from dawn to dusk, May through October.
Guided Tours: The FREE Center can serve groups up to 50 people in its education center. Groups will see a wind turbine blade and wind turbines up close. Volunteer tour guides will lead your group, answer questions and lead activities appropriate to the age range of your group. We do not charge a set fee, but suggested donation is $2.00 per person for groups up to 20 people. For larger groups such as schools or organizations, $100 per tour is suggested.
Self-Guided Tours: In addition to the wind turbines, the site features a solar array that powers the education building and a shrub willow planting (Bio-mass) that can be converted into a variety of sustainable energy sources. Kiosks (display boards) located around the center offer information about renewable energy. We have picnic tables, a covered patio and handicap-accessible path.
Other Details:
Visitors can stand at the end of a 113 foot-long ground mounted wind turbine blade.
The best photo op in Madison County.
Dress warm in layers; it's windy up here!!
There is no water, so bring a water bottle.
